Mediocre weather app that needs a bit more spit and polish
While I wouldn’t call this app a barn burner weather widget, it’s not as dreadful as some of the reviews here indicate. With that being said, it provides all the info you would expect from a weather app, with even an extended temperature forecast, current conditions, a current weather icon and temperature in the menubar, and a radar.
While I personally prefer Weatherman for my menubar weather app, this is fine as well (and free). At least it’s not running as an active app like Weatherman does, which really hogs up CPU. If you click on any of Weatherbugs panels, it’ll take you to their site for more information. I could neither find an update button for the most accurate weather readings, nor could I find a way to set the frequency of how often it grabs the current weather.
It also doesn’t have an extended weather conditions display, just an extended temperature display. In other words, it’ll show you the temps for the upcoming 7 days but not the weather conditions. If you click on that panel, it takes you to its website for more info, which defeats the purpose of having it in your menubar.
Those two items are why I can’t give it a five-star review. It’s ok. It’s by no means a five-star app, but it’s not a one-star app either. But as noted, it is free. That counts for something in my book.
