Stay away from this app if you hate ads like me. It takes huge resources to continuously show updated ads. Once started, there is no way of exiting from the app (you have to use the activity monitor to kill the app).

Neat and clean. It gives you a quick glance at the weather; exactly what I need. However, it consumes way too much CPU - always at a steady 6% on a 4GHz quad-core Intel Core i7. I am running a linux virtual machine under VMWare, PyCharm which is a Java based IDE, Chrome and other dev tools. This app is constatly using more CPU than each one of those apps. It’s sitting in the background doing nothing (with the exception of when it needs a data update) how can it consume so much CPU?
I am a new Mac user and I love having this app at the top of my screen. I was excited to find out that the weather information was coming from the high school down the street. How cool is that! With a quick click I can see all the information I need, and if I need more I can get over to the website in a flash. Highly recommend!
This is the only app I am able to use it show weather in my status bar for free but sometimes lil inconsistency in temperature. Over all, its worth if you are not ready to shell out few bucks for the weather app.
the app wont even open. i have used it before it was!!! very good
App needs to be updated to run on OS X El Capitan. Doesn’t open at all. I’ve deleted and reinstalled but still does not work.
My macbook has it loaded...but its nowhere to be found...no icon, nothing in the dock...nothing? What good is it if you cant even see it?
Runs great on 10.11.6. When I installed from the app store, the app ended up in my downloads folder - so I needed to move to the applications folder, double click to start and then click its gear icon in the app itself to set it to autostart when I start up my Mac. Its a bit of work, but its nice looking and I like having the weather and alerts in my menu bar.
I liked the design. You know, there are a lot of weather apps novadays, primary difference - is just design. I like this clear design.
Thanks for releasing an app for the Mac! Great to have my local WeatherBug station where I can see the temperature updating and one click access to radar and forecasts!
It’s fine if you line lin New York, Tokyo, or… oh well, if you delte them you can not add them back! Bummer app!
WeatherBug’s iOS app is one of my favorite weather apps on my phone. It provides a lot of information, even a “Spark” feature for nearby lightning. I had high hopes that the Mac app would be similar, but it provides less information than any weather app I’ve used. The Mac app shows the temperatures forecast for the next 12 hours. It has an icon indicating the overall condition (clear, cloudy, etc.). There is a small radar display. That’s it. Although there is a preference area to set your choice of wind units and pressure units, it doesn’t show current or forecast for wind or pressure. It doesn’t indicate the chance of rain, there is no detailed hourly forecast, no 7- or 10-day forecast, no indication of sunrise and sunset times, and no description of today’s weather. It indicates the current temperature and conditions in the menubar, but many other free and inexpensive apps do that, while also providing a lot more information.
Best quick weather app for mac! If you’re a real weather junkie and want more than just temperature and alerts, its easy to just visit the website!
I tried Weatherbug and observed with iStat that it is consistently using 2.7% CPU and fluctuating at times higher than this while idle in the menu bar. I am not interacting wiith it in any way while it does this. I consider this to be unacceptable for an app such as this. I undestand that it needs to update the displayed temp reading at intervals but this in no way justifies that level of resource consumption. This should have been observed and corrected in quality assurance testing before release. This is otherwise a nice little app that displays the most important info I would want with one click. What another reviewer complains about here regarding limited information available is not actually correct. Another click on one of the major areas of the drop down menu bar display opens your default browser to a Weatherbug web page with more relevant detail and other information of interest to those who enjoy keeping an eye on the weather. Considering this app costs zero, this approach to providing more information seems entirely reasonable to me. I’ll give this three stars because the app itself is nice and the price sure is right. I won’t give it more than that because of the excessive resource usage issue which needs to be corrected.
It’s a nice looking little dropdown panel in the finder bar. It displays basic info like current temperature and the next several hours. And when clicking on the other parts of the interface, you are taken to the web site - what’s the point for desktop a version? The app is mostly useless. Seeing forcast for the next 7 DAYS is important, not seven hours. The fake map should in real time and not linking to the web site.
The iPad and iPhone versions of this application are a delight. They permit a look ahead for several days on an hourly basis. There is a ten day forecast too. The radar is also more detailed. On the Mac, the menu bar is one click away but delivers little. I suggest porting the iPad app to OS 10.11.3. There is no need for a less powerful version of the software to appear on a more powerful machine. For anything more in the Mac version, the web browser launches and that interface is awkward. Time for a rethink. I would pay for something more like the iPad version on the Mac. Make it an app for pay, and keep the menu version free.
Too much of this application simply links you into the Weatherbug web site. You can’t even see an extended forecast. Furthermore, there is an annoying ad at the bottom of the drop down which you cannot remove (nor can you pay to remove). If you have a weather alert in your area, it takes up space for an additional warning icon in your menu bar, which is a horrible UI decision when you consider that menu bar space is already constrained. In short, this app is not worth using, it’s just generating them ad revenue, and for what it does you might as will stick with the built in weather widget in Notification Center.
I have been looking for a awesome app to help me keep up with the weather in my town and where my family lives and this is and continues to be a great help.
Whoa, this version is a mess. Wait for an update to fix all the issues outlined by all the other comments (menu hangs, CPU overload, cant add locations...)
This app itself is well designed and quite useful. I’m prone to give it a 5 start rating. Howeve, it sometimes doesn’t get my location correctly. So two stars out, only three left.
